surprise tip for a shop owner
How cool would it be if so many people showed up that the Donut shop ran out of coffee and donuts?!! We are organizing an in-person community gathering, helping to make someone's day. We recently heard of a story from multiple friends in our community, about a family who has owned and operated a donut shop in Point Loma for over 35 years. They are apparently the nicest, "good people" and were recently robbed of their savings. This family immigrated to the U.S. 35 years ago, and has shown up tirelessly every day for those 35 years with no time-off, only to have their hard-worked earnings taken from them.
Please join us in helping make their day! The Plan: Meet at 10am to hang out over coffee and donuts, then we'll surprise them with the money we've raised from two of our Yoga For A Cause classes. So far we've raised $870 to surprise them with! If you'd like to contribute to this surprise, please notate "donuts" in your donation! Wouldn't it be so heart-warming to have so many of us there that they run out of donuts and coffee?!!

If you’re looking for a way to enter into the New Year in a generous way, please consider purchasing items from the Amazon Wish List we created for Victoria, the young mom who has aged out of foster care.
Victoria has an 18-month-old baby and we’d love your participation in sending her items to help care for her child. We’re so proud of and inspired by Victoria! She’s landed a full-time job working at a daycare and is really committed to creating a great life for herself and her daughter.
We hope you’ll join us in supporting Victoria through this transition. 💟 Thank you!
MAKING WISHES COME TRUE FOR THOSE IN NEED
Our 2021 Wish-Granting Holiday Surprise identified people in need, who could use some extra compassion and kindness over the holiday season, by granting their wishes. Because of your participation, we were able to: help a family adopt a child from India, surprise a family from Afghanistan with a baby car seat and stroller, surprise a musician performing in the Trader Joe’s parking lot, feed the homeless in Los Angeles, help a family dealing with cancer, surprise a young man from an Indian reservation with money to help him transition leaving the reservation.
Christmas for 31 families
I cannot say “thank you” enough. $5,445 dollars raised in 8 days by 85 individuals, paying off layaways for 31 families. Thank YOU for being 2020 Layaway Angels!
Back in the 80’s after my dad died I remember going to Kmart and my Mom putting things on layaway for us kids, and it feeling like forever when I’d actually get to take home what I’d picked out. Today I want to help families that may have struggled how we did when I was growing up. I hope you will help us with this surprise. ~ Kim Bauman

Kindness surprise for low-wage workers
This mom works in a hospital as part of the custodial night crew where her job is to clean up the rooms. This is one of the most stressful and horrifying jobs she's ever had to do in life where she's seen it all with Covid-19 patients, some entering and never leaving. Her husband is out of work due to Covid and she is the mother of 3 with her oldest daughter being the first in the family to go to college. The balance of all of this has brought on depression as well as the worries of bringing Covid home to her family. In this video we are surprising the mom and her son, thanks to Wendy, his elementary school teacher for sharing his and his mom's story. We decided to do a random act of kindness, surprising the mom with a big gift card from Vons and a monthly subscription for the son of a science/STEM Tinker box from KiWi Co. Thank you so much Wendy for telling us about this very special family. Thank you to all who continue to donate to One Love Movement. We are able to help others because of you.
YOU helping an elementary school student
This San Diego 5th grade student was struggling to stay on top of distance learning. Her family’s only device was no longer working and with their current situation, even coordinating the time and a ride to school to pick up a district-issued device was a challenge - putting her even further behind. When her teacher shared this story with us, we knew we could help. We surprised her with her own Chromebook computer to help her now and as she moves into middle school next year.
Kindness surprise for low-wage workers
This couple cleans homes for a living. They are completely out of work right now due to COVID-19 lockdown. Watch this heart-warming video where we surprised them with $1,000!!
How do you change the world? One intentional act of kindness at a time, because every act creates a ripple with no end.
Be the cause of seeing people cry tears of joy, be the cause of seeing people freak out with complete dismay from having no idea that all along something kind was coming their way. That’s what our One Love Kindness Quest is all about…. spreading love & kindness one person at a time. If you know of someone who’s been negatively impacted by COVID-19, please tell us their story so we can help them.
